Karl Markgraf provides leadership to UMD International Programs and Services. This role oversees International Partnerships and Outreach, Study Abroad, and Global Engagement. He received his B.A. in German from the University of Oregon and his M.A. and Ph.D. in German Language and Literature from the University of Wisconsin-Madison. He has served both as a faculty member in German and chief international officer. He is an active member of numerous international education organizations and has published and presented at national and international conferences and workshops on the topics of internationalization of higher education, international academic mobility, international enrollment management and student recruitment, cross-cultural learning, and related subjects.
Karl has traveled widely for both work and pleasure and continues to learn from the peoples, cultures, and the natural environs he encounters.
