Do not make travel arrangements until you have been officially accepted by USAC and they have shared key dates with you.
Students may participate in study abroad anytime after freshman year (or completing 24 college credits post completion of high school)
Note: Students may apply to a program during freshman year, but must have completed freshman year in good standing to participate in the program their sophomore year.

Christ University - USAC
Known as ‘the Garden City,’ and quickly growing as the Silicon Valley of India, Bengaluru is large and buzzing with modern development alongside its historical monuments and traditional Indian culture. The city is a huge mixing pot of people and cultures and has become a very important tourist destination in India. There are a multitude of beautiful buildings and palaces to tour in the city, including the Tipu Sultan’s Palace, and the Bangalore Palace. Along with the city, culture comes a wide assortment of outdoor activities. Ulsoor Lake spreads over a 125-acre area and offers a huge range of recreational activities. Cubbon Park is a massive green area that offers a refreshing background for walkers, joggers, and nature lovers.
Founded in 1969, Christ University was the first college in the Karnataka Region to become an accredited university. The tree-lined campus houses 10,000 graduate and undergraduate students. Students studying at Christ University over the summer will be able to take advantage of all of its amenities, including computer labs, libraries, sports fields, and an affordable food court full of delicious meal options. Students will also receive a student ID that provides access to all campus events, as well as more discounts throughout the city.

Academics
Enroll in up to 13 credits during the semester. While Hindi is not a requirement of the program, it is recommended that you enroll in the course while abroad.
If you select the optional service-learning internship track, you can earn a total of 12-16 credits for the semester.

- If you do not see a cost estimate for the semester/term you intend to go abroad, the cost has not yet been determined. Please note cost estimates and fees may change depending on international economic factors. UMD Study Abroad delays the posting of final fees until enrollments, inflation, and exchange rates are determined in order to provide students with the most accurate pricing. We strive to post final fees by October 1 for Spring programs, March 1 for May/Summer programs, and May 1 for Fall and Academic year programs.

Housing
USAC Housing in Bengaluru consists of two options: an on-campus residence hall (women only) or off-campus co-ed apartments. Both options offer single-rooms. See the USAC website for full details.
Travel Documents
- You are required to have a passport to participate in this program. If you do not have a passport or your passport will expire within 6 months after you will return from abroad, apply for a passport as soon as possible. It can take 2+ months to receive your passport after applying. You can apply for a new passport on-campus at the UMD Passport Acceptance Facility.
- Visa guidance will be provided by USAC.
- Roundtrip airfare should only be purchased after official acceptance is issued by USAC and the foreign university.

A $50 non-refundable application fee will be billed to your One Stop account upon submission of an application.
After you apply
- After approximately 20 minutes, you will see checklist items for you to complete.
- All application checklist items need to be submitted by the application deadline which is noted near the top of the page.
- Your UMD Program Contact will review your application materials.
- You must complete the Confirmation of Participation form to confirm your participation.
- Once we receive your confirmation, your UMD account will be billed a confirmation deposit.
If you decide you cannot participate, you must log in to the online application system and submit the "Cancellation Request form."
