About Program
Study in Stellenbosch, South Africa
Stellenbosch University - USAC
Founded in 1679, Stellenbosch is the second oldest city in South Africa. Cape Dutch architecture, museums, and cultural centers accentuate the city’s history. Even with its historic richness, new technology is being adopted and integrated into the city. Known as the City of Oaks, you can easily stroll down the oak-tree-lined city avenues to find many cafes, boutiques, and art galleries.
Take in what Stellenbosch has to offer in your backyard by visiting the beaches or Jonker’s Hoek Nature Reserve. Explore the mixture of mountains, hills, forests, valleys, and streams which make up this unique and attractive place, perfect for outdoor enthusiasts.
If you’re seeking additional adventures, Cape Town is just 30 miles away and offers additional picturesque locations including The Cape of Good Hope, Table Mountain (one of the New 7 Seven Wonders of the World), and Robben Island!
Internationally recognized as an academic institution of excellence, Stellenbosch University (SU) is a public research university focused on research output, student pass rates, and rated scientists. At thirty-thousand strong, the students at SU are a diverse bunch with 40.7% claiming Afrikaans as their native language and 46.1% claiming English. The student population is comprised of citizens from 100 countries, so you’ll get to interact with people of many different backgrounds. With SU’s campus located in the city of Stellenbosch, it provides a true college town experience.
